Silent Music Collection: Recluse Raccoon Accompanies Guy Maddin Selections

Guest filmmaker Guy Maddin introduces personal favorite: Jean Vigo’s classic revolt film, Zero for Conduct (1931) screened with live sound courtesy of Recluse Raccoon.  Madden will also screen his Cowards Bend the Knee (aka The Blue Hands) (2003), the first of his “trilogy” and shot on Super 8 for $30,000, comprised of ten short films set between 1930-1960.  It’s adapted from a ten part peephole exhibition and recalls Fritz Lang’s Dr. Mabuse series. Plus, Heart of the World (2000), containing over 500 shots in it’s 5 minute length, and winner of the Genie for “Best Short Film”.  120 minutes
