James River Short Films 2017 Winners Announced!

The 2017 James River Short Films competition finalists were screened at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Friday, October 20.

The award winners were:

1st place: The Real ThingBrandon Kelley (NY)  $600.00

2nd place: Nerd CaveMads Reuther (Denmark)  $500.00

3rd place: Lunch TimeAlireza Ghasemi (Iran)  $400.00

Honorable mention: Cute as a Button—Marta Finkelstein (VA)  $250.00

Honorable mention: Panic AttackEileen O’Meara (CA)  $250.00

Kathryn Stephens VA Filmmaker Award—Left UndoneNathan Clarke (VA)

Plan 9 Music People’s Choice Award: The Real ThingBrandon Kelley (NY)  $100.00

The competition is co-sponsored by the Virginia Film Office and the James River Film Society, and hosted by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Since 1994 the competition has awarded over $46,000.00 to young filmmakers in Virginia, the United States, and around the world!
